Last December 20, 2008, selected members of Newlyweds@Work (an online community for newlyweds and not so newlyweds) hosted a Jollibee Christmas Party for the urban poor children/teens supported by Concordia Children's Services, an orphanage for abandoned children. A total of 34 urban poor children/teens aged 8-15 years old, a few kids from the orphanage and approximatley 40 adults (including volunteers, suppliers and Concordia staff) attended the said event which was held from 9:00am-12:00nn at the premises of the orphanage in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
It was indeed a half day full of fun and games for everybody. Aside from the games and pinata which the attendees participated in, the children/teens were also treated to an animated story telling session by N@wie Danie.
Jollibee came to provide some entertainment and pose for some souvenir photos.
Everybody enjoyed eating the spaghetti, fries and burger from Jollibee and ice cream & sweets donated by various N@wies.
Volunteer photographers from Olyclub and GSM Photoclub were everywhere to capture the precious moments.
The kids were all smiles as they went home wearing their new slippers from Banana Peel while carrying their backpacks filled with loot, game prizes, candies & other goodies.
One kid even went home with an electric fan (donated by N@wie Abie), which was the grand prize in the raffle.
After the party, some members of N@W went to St. Martin de Porres Hospital, San Juan Municipal Hospital and Barangay Balongbato to distribute the remaining donations from generous N@wies and other donors.
All the N@wies and volunteers who attended the outreach activity were enriched by the experience and have agreed to come up with and participate in more activities like this in the future.
